The development prospects of tourism relations between Azerbaijan and Spain, Andorra and Bulgaria were discussed within the framework of the business visit of Fuad Naghiyev, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra on January 18-23.
During the visit, Fuad Naghiyev participated in the "FITUR" fair held in Madrid, the capital of Spain. The meeting was held between Fuad Naghiyev and the Minister of Tourism and Telecommunications of the Principality of Andorra, Jordi Torres Falco with the participation of Ramiz Hasanov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra within the framework of the fair.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the development of winter tourism in our country, the importance of using Andorra's experience in this field, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the development of winter tourism between the institutions were talked. At the same time, it was emphasized that the athletes of the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation started training in Andorra and they will participate in the World Cup for the first time.
At the fair, a bilateral meeting was held with Irena Georgiyeva, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria. During the meeting, the development of tourism relations between the countries and the exchange of mutual experience were discussed.
Also, during the meeting with Fuad Naghiyev and Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary General of the UNWTO, discussions were held on the promotion of Azerbaijan's tourism opportunities and recovery directions in the post-pandemic period.
Later, Fuad Nagiyev, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, and Ambassador Ramiz Hasanov visited the Principality of Andorra. The meeting was held here with Joan Viladomat, the president of the world-famous “PGI” company for winter tourism, head of the largest tourist operator tourist resorts in Andorra, and there were discussions on the prospects for the development of cooperation.
It should be noted that our athletes participated in the Ski Mountaineering World Cup, which took a start in the Principality of Andorra and demonstrated their individual skills in the vertical race of the competition.
